The West Lansing retail trade area is anchored by the Lansing Mall. Opened in 1969, the Lansing Mall is over 830,000 square feet of indoor covered mall shopping. The surrounding land is a mix of mall out parcels with tenants such as Best Buy, Longhorn Steak, Verizon, Applebee's and the US Postal Service as well as traditional retail centers to the East and West of the Mall.

The surrounding retailers include big boxes like Target, Meijer, Hobby Lobby, Planet Fitness, Big Lots and ABC Warehouse. The West Lansing's most popular restaurants also line this section of Saginaw Hwy and include Logan's Steak House, Cheddar's, Fazoli's, Qdoba and Chuck E. Cheese. Many financial institutions have branches in close proximity to this area including national banks and local credit union branch offices.

With tight inventories for retail properties in the area, leasing is available but not an oversupply. The area has several smaller multi-tenant buildings that have a mix of both national and local retailers with suite sizes starting around 1,000 Ft. Almost all retail leases in this area will be triple net. There is little office space in the immediate area but there are small office suites in the area that generally have availability. Offices are generally to the south of this area.
