Sweet Shannon's is an amazing place. The atmosphere is very warm and the staff is really friendly. You can get all kinds of wonderful treats which makes it child approved! The reviews that people have given Shannon's says it all. You can check them out on their Facebook Page. It's a place I think all who come to Kalkaska should stop and see.

Libraries are becoming a little outdated due to the internet, but I will always love libraries and the smell of books. I've been using this library for years, and it's a wonderful place to go relax and read a book. They also offer free internet for the public and have computers that you can use. There is a little history on the Kalkaska Public Library for you in the link below that I found interesting. I hope you enjoy!

Jack's Sport Shop is a place I've been going to for years. It's the best place to go in Kalkaska for all your camping, hunting, and fishing needs. They have an amazing selection of fishing gear, lures, and pools with the knowledge to help you find what you need.

You will find a great archery selection with everything you need to service your bow. A great stop for anyone who likes fishing and the outdoors. Normal business hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.; Friday and Saturday 8:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. and Sunday 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

This is a great place in Kalkaska for good food at a very reasonable price. They have many wonderful burgers including a Belly Buster Burger challenge you can undertake if you have the stomach for it!

Their breakfast entrees are always a great choice. I've had many myself and have not been dissatisfied yet. Make the stop when you get the chance. Normal business hours are 6:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m.; Friday 6:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. and Sunday 7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

The National Trout Memorial, known locally as the Fisherman's Shrine, or just "The Big Fish," is located in the main district of Kalkaska. The fountain, which is 18 feet high and 17 feet long, is symbolic of Michigan's official state fish, the Brook Trout. The fountain has wash stones from nearby Torch Lake and Michigan Petoskey stones in the base. The National Trout Festival is held annually on the last weekend in April in Kalkaska.
