I grew up in Clarkston and lived there for many years. Pine Knob was the place to go for downhill skiing. Lots of vacant land and dirt roads....not the Clarkston you will see now days. But downtown still has beautiful old homes with great wood trim and floors. Sidewalks and parks and the Mill Pond are still there. Rudy's Market is still there from a very long time ago. Now it has a couple of the best places to eat in the Clarkston area. The Clarkston Union Bar & Kitchen and Union Woodshop...come hungry and enjoy the view...AND you just might see KID ROCK in Clarkston. He lives nearby and comes to the Union all the time.
