Dearborn Area Insight

  • Famous throughout Michigan for their high-quality pork products for over 70 years. They produce their goods on-site in a modern factory and sell locally in their showroom. You can buy bacon, hams, sausage, and other fine meats or you can stop for a quick lunch of sandwiches, soups, or the fried pierogies!
  • Another wonderful tradition for the whole family is Greenfield Village's Holiday Nights! Every year around Christmas time, the Village decorates every light post, building, and street for the holiday season. Each of the Village houses has a story and decor relating to events of that era. Visitors can stroll the streets with a candle-lit lantern or take one of the more exciting modes of transportation in an old Model T or horse drawn carriage. Carolers and story tellers are around every corner, as well as holiday shops. There is also an ice skating rink, delicious seasonal food, and of course the carousel! Finally, don't forget to visit Santa and his live reindeer as he reads the nice list aloud. All of this combined with the regular glory of the Village has this event selling out every year!
  • Dearborn is home to so many big corporations and is surrounded by history and fabulous neighborhoods to live! The corporate AAA office sponsors a walk for breast cancer each October. This year they raised over $100,000.00! All month long, they feature a three-story pink ribbon on their building that shines for all to see! Let's all fight for a cure!
  • The Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village is a one of a kind, ever changing collection of artifacts, buildings, machines and vehicles that are displayed in an interactive environment that lets the observer truly experience a walk through history!

On our last visit we viewed the Presidential limousine display, toured the Buckminster Fuller aluminum house of the future, saw a steam powered turbine in action and viewed a 1953 Corvette!

The next time we go I will be planning a visit to "The Rouge", Henry Ford's massive complex where raw metal would go in one end and a car would roll out the other!
  • The Arab American National Museum is a cultural experience all will enjoy! Take a trip through the rich Arab American history and see how Arab Americans helped shape American society.

The immigrant experience comes alive in the displays and artifacts from the trip overseas, overcoming language barriers, education and moving the future generations forward to becoming
statesmen, business leaders, entertainers, politicians and philanthropists.
