On Tuesday, August 1, the Grand Blanc Township and City Police and Fire departments participated in National Night Out! This was a great free community event where kids of all ages could get a closer look at police cruisers and fire trucks, watch vehicle extraction and K-9 search demonstrations, and meet other community members at various resource tents. There were bounce houses, an inflatable slide, a foam pit, face painting, a DJ, and much more! Prize raffles for children's bikes and a new Blackstone Grill. There were also hotdogs, chips, popcorn, ice-cold water, and treats and desserts from local businesses. It was a great way to meet our local police officers and firefighters and interact with other community public safety members.

The holiday lights in Grand Blanc are a sight to see, and everyone needs to head out to Creasey Bicentennial Park and our downtown area to see the amazing displays.

A big shout out to Grand Blanc Parks & Recreation for their work at Bicentennial every year. We're so very thankful to have this incredible community space to visit year-round, and this year's holiday lights are quite amazing.

Outstanding work, and thanks to the City of Grand Blanc Downtown Development Authority - DDA for sponsoring the lights on Grand Blvd and the Grand Blanc City Fire Department for volunteering their time every night. 100% of donations go to FISH of Grand Blanc!

The splash pad at Physician's Park is open for the summer. Come cool off daily between
10:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. until Labor Day weekend. The bathrooms and a huge pavilion for taking a break and eating lunch are located nearby. The fenced playground is also a great option! There are slides, swings, monkey bars, and many places to climb and run. You can also quickly walk down the paved path and wooden steps to the Hot Dog Stand, and Ziggy's is just down the sidewalk! We love taking our grandson to Physician's Park to run around and enjoy the summer weather.

My wife and I stopped into Yaya's for dinner the other night. We both ordered the Shredded Chicken Salad with their House dressing. So good!! They have full menu of salads, wraps, and whole pieces of chicken with a variety of sides including mashed potatoes with gravy, macaroni and cheese, and pita bread with honey butter. You can dine in or take your order to go.

Yaya's is located at Saginaw and Reid right in downtown Grand Blanc in the same plaza as Starbucks, catty-cornered from Little Joes and Jimmy John's. Just a block away from Aubree's Pizza. So many great choices in this area!

Located on Holly Road by I-75, Acension Genesys is by far the best athletic club in the Genesee County/Mid-Michigan area! My family has had a membership there for 10+ years. I spent a lot of my younger high school and middle school days there, all day during the weekend or during the summer. There really is that much to do! Some people believe the price may be a bit on the high side, but if you're using all the amenities, it is worth it 100%. The weight room is spacious and has a variety of machines and free weights that can appeal to bodybuilders and someone just looking to get started. There are beautiful walking trails that anyone can walk on without a membership. There is a full indoor track, eight tennis courts, a lap pool, a kid's pool, and a café!

We had a great meal with great service! I definitely recommend checking this place out. Grafted Root is right in downtown Grand Blanc near Kroger, Mcdonald's, and Grand Blanc High School. Colony Quality Meats is my go-to spot for some delicious steaks to grill in the summer! The cuts are fresh and full of flavor. Colony has the area's largest gourmet deli platters and sandwiches along with a host of different meats and seafood. Colony Quality Meats also partners with Zingerman's Bakehouse to offer bread and pastries, along with Boars Head for meats and cheeses.

We took our grandson to Physician's Park this past weekend where we played on the fenced-in playscape, walked around the park, and stopped to watch the ice skaters. There was still plenty of ice for skating and the warming building was nice and toasty! After we finished playing we stopped for a Happy Meal at McDonalds.

Physician's Park is a great place year-round. There is a paved pathway around the perimeter of the park for walking or running. In the winter, the cement pad is used for a skating rink, but in the summer it doubles as a splash pad - the kids have a blast! The playground has swings, a few slides, and other climbing structures and is completely fenced in. While the park is in a quiet setting, it's not far from multiple food choices, the post office, and other local businesses. You can even walk down to the Hot Dog Stand and Ziggy's from the park. This park is a wonderful asset to the community!

We had family over this past Sunday for the Super Bowl and ordered takeout from Enzo's Pizzeria located in the strip mall on Saginaw and Baldwin. We ordered pizza, BBQ chicken wings, and a salad with amazing homemade ranch dressing! The ranch was thick and creamy with great flavor! All the portions were great! Everyone really enjoyed the food. The wings were moist. Even though the Eagles didn't win, the food was a hit! I definitely recommend checking these guys out!

Located in the heart of Grand Blanc on Saginaw Street, Little Joe's Tavern has been a staple in the community since 1935! Little Joe's has been in its present location since September of 1936 with the current owners taking ownership in 1993, and they have been serving the Grand Blanc community ever since. Little Joe's is the perfect spot to bring the whole family or just a date night for two! Inside you will find the dining area with a mix of tables and booths as well as a few high-tops. There is also bar seating available. Tall ceilings give an open feel and lots of space for Little Joe's eclectic décor! Patio seating along Saginaw Street is available in the warmer months. I definitely recommend ordering the Salmon BLT - I get it every time we eat at Little Joe's!

Located on Perry St near downtown, McFarlen Library is a great place to check out! McFarlen Library has roughly 90,000 printed titles as well as over 2,000 audio titles in addition to many DVD's and other pieces of material available for borrowing. Additionally the library has 23 computers for public use, a business center, meeting rooms, and other amenities available. There are a few small toys for the little ones as well as a computer available to them to look up information and try out a few computer games. Grand Blanc Commons is a nature preserve and trail located behind McFarlen Library. The trails are rustic and unpaved with a bridge leading over the creek. These beautiful trails lead you across the 137-acre property to view Thread Creek, open meadows, quiet woods, and possibly some wildlife! Previously used as farmland belonging to the McFarland family, these 137 acres were originally intended to be developed into office buildings! Residents of the nearby Indian Hill subdivision were not interested in that and together, with the help of a few conservation groups, were able to raise funds to purchase the property and stipulate that it should remain a nature preserve! Now residents are able to freely use the space for birdwatching, light hiking, and other outdoor activities. Grand Blanc Commons Trail is right near downtown with quick access to shopping and dining options. We love to come here for some fresh air without going too far from home!

Come down to the Grand Blanc Farmers Market. This is a great opportunity to gather fresh Michigan produce and local handmade crafts. The farmers market is conveniently located downtown between Grand Blanc Road and Reid Road. I have enjoyed this event in the past few years as it has been happening every summer since 2006. It's a great way to spend a Sunday meeting with your local community vendors. Excellent event!

Grand Blanc is a large area with a small town feel. Grand Blanc officially became a city on March 4th 1930, and has grown at a healthy rate every since. Grand Blanc has been my home town for around 30 years now, and I am proud to say that I am a Grand Blanc High alumni class of 1997. In this area, the public school district is known for its high standards of curriculum and evolution of technology in the classroom. There are also many private and religious schools available. The Grand Blanc area has so much to offer with its amazing and unique restaurants, entertainment, and shopping. People drive long distances to utilize our state of the art movie theater that includes an IMAX theater. There is also a handful of beautiful golf courses in and around this area including the world famous Warwick Hills, which is formally know for the location of the Buick Open. We also have plenty of parks to relax, exercise, or get your game on at.
