Other downtown gems include the Pix Theater with live entertainment, and Gallery 194 featuring local artists. More than 12 parks provide hiking, sports, and recreational activities. With easy access along east-west I-69 and north-south M-24, Lapeer is a special place to live, work, and play.
  • According to the authoritative Department of Natural Resources Fisheries Report linked to the video, Lake Nepessing in Lapeer is a 414 acre lake. It tends to be shallow and warm with an average depth of 10 feet and a maximum depth of 25 feet and there are only 157 homes on it and a couple of nice restaurants. Those would be the Lake Inn and the Castaways. The video just shows a small section around the Lake Inn, the public boat launch, and the Lapeer Country Club.

Not only is Lapeer 150 years old. It has buildings that were built in 1830 that are still in use in 2014. They have trains...I love to hear the whistles of trains. It reminds me of my dad...we use to go into this area and watch the trains and wait for the whistles. Just spending a Saturday afternoon with my dad...brings back great memories for me. Nice place to visit...and live. Oh and we have grown since our birth 150 years ago...with hospitals, Walmarts and other shopping areas. And don't forget the trains.

Its 150 years old...in Lapeer. That's where it started with stagecoach rides along the Saginaw Trail.
Lots of woods and vacant land draw many families to this area. Just like that today...is what draws families to this area. Things have changed somewhat. You can still go to downtown and see the oldest buildings in the area since 1830. They are still being used today.
Great place to raise your family. Lots of homes that are available with property. Come join us in this still beautiful area...of Lapeer County. Stop by the Historical Society and see more photos and films like the one included in this article.
