As I was driving to Fennville to preview a home for a client, I came across DeGrandchamp Farms and the blueberry bushes were in all their fall glory! Just breathtakingly beautiful!

DeGrandchamp Farms has been selling blueberries in the South Haven Area since 1958 and cranberries since 1994. DeGrandchamp Farms has the largest U-pick blueberry fields on the Lake Michigan coastline. They have blueberries year round. They have U-Pick, farm stand and fresh frozen. Their website and facebook page keeps their long time customers up to date on what is happening. Stop in and learn about growing your own blueberries.

Van Buren State Park has high sand dunes, nature trails for hiking, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. The park has picnic tables, grills, a picnic shelter and two restroom buildings. If you like nature this is a great place to vacation.

North Beach in South Haven has a smooth sandy beach great for sunbathing and swimming. This beach gets very crowded in the summer. There is a playground, picnic area and wooden walking pier. This beach has restrooms and a old-fashioned concession stand that sells ice cream and lemonade and it has 50's style bar stools to sit and enjoy your treats.

This location also rents volleyballs so that you can enjoy the beach volleyball areas. No pets are allowed at this beach. There is no entrance to the beach but there is a parking fee at North Beach. The Van Buren Transit Authority offers a beach bus between North and South Beach. There is a lot of debate on which beach is best. I have not been to South Beach. I will check it out next trip to South Haven.

Kal-Haven Trail State Park is a unique park. The route of the Kal-Haven Trail originally was a railroad completed in 1870. It is a 33 mile trail with a limestone-slag surface great for biking, hiking and running. The trail weaves from the city of South Haven to the city of Kalamazoo.

Van Buren County maintains the trail. Parts of this trail allow horse back riding and in winter the trail is perfect for cross country skiing and snowmobiling. There are only two staffed locations on the trail. The trailhead near Kalamazoo and the trailhead in South Haven. There are restrooms and picnic areas with tables along the trail.
