Three Oaks Michigan is located in Southwest Michigan just five miles from Lake Michigan and within two miles of the Indiana border. They are known for having one of the largest Flag Day celebrations in the country. It is a three day event held every June (normally the weekend before Flag Day) featuring a parade on Sunday afternoon that has been taking place since 1953. This parade honors everything and everyone that stands for freedom in the United States. Over 100 different groups of Service Men and Women, Veterans, Drill Teams, Drum and Bugle Corps and Equestrian Groups make up this parade. The parade closes the three day long event.

The Art in the Park (Saturday and Sunday) part of this event is held at Carver Park. This part of the Flag Day celebration allows families to enjoy different types of arts and crafts along with antique vendors. There are demonstrations, softball games, food, live music and pageant queens.

This celebration has come a long way from the first small parade in the 50's. My husband (Chris) and I have gone to the parade a couple of times through the years and have had a lot of fun. This small town tradition is one of many in Southwest Michigan that makes living in Michigan great. Hope to see you there!
