    Lake Leelanau actually includes two bodies of water - North Lake Leelanau and South Lake Leelanau. They meet at what is commonly called The Narrows in the town of Lake Leelanau. The entire lake covers roughly 8,608 acres and lies within Leelanau County. This is by all means an all-sports lake - it stretches 21 miles down the center of the 30 mile long Leelanau Peninsula. Homes along the lake are varied; some are quaint cottages and small resorts while others are year-round homes. There are walleye, perch and bass fishing here.

Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, which was named "The Most Beautiful Place in America" (by Good Morning America, viewers) also lies within the county's borders.
