One of the most popular places in the heart of downtown Flushing! Cops and Robbers have a wide variety of hand-dipped and soft-serve ice cream, shakes, malts, mix-in treats, sundaes, and frozen drinks! They are open seven days a week and have a large outdoor patio for summer seating or an upstairs area for cooler times.

Flushing County Park is located off of McKinley Rd just north of the downtown area. The park has a little bit of everything! There are several playgrounds, multiple pavilions available for rent, baseball fields, a two part dog park, exercise equipment, an open area for picnics and play, a wide paved trail, as well as many, many natural trails through the woods. The trails lead from Main St, near Bueche's grocery store, through Flushing County Park and along the Flint River, back out to the sidewalk along McKinley Rd and back to Main Street. The length of the paved trail is close to three miles.

You can stop by Roaring 20's for ice cream, then head across the street to the start of the trail to enjoy a treat while you enjoy the beautiful views in the summer and fall. The trail is open year round, but is not maintained in the winter months.
  • The Riverview Trail in Flushing is great for getting the family out of the house! It is a 1.4-mile paved path following along the river and through the trees making for a great atmosphere to walk, run, or cycle! The paths and bridges are plenty wide to bring your whole family. The trail will lead you into a large park with pavilions, basketball courts, and playgrounds which could be great for planning events. This park is very dog friendly with clean-up/drink stations located throughout and also its own dog park.

Bueche's Food World is a great place to do your grocery shopping. They offer a clean store and great customer service. It has a small town family atmosphere, great quality food and reasonable prices.

Tax Day: April 15, 2014. Spent the weekend off with my hubby. We cleaned the yard, picking up tree limbs that were downed by this really hard winter. What a great time we had seeing our beagles play in the yard. I live in Flushing off of Seymour Rd. Everything was turning green and it was a "cook out" night for us.

Well look at the video attached and it is NOT what we here in Flushing expected!! Two inches of snow on the ground. Going from 60 to 27 in a 24 hour period. Good grief!!!

But we did break the all-time record for snow. So 2013-2014 winter months in Flushing....were the worst on record.

So come on "Mother Nature" can you give us a break....and let's really start spring?

St. Roberts School in Flushing offers a private catholic education for grades K through 8. If you're looking for a great alternative to public schools, there aren't too many better choices than St. Roberts. Most of the students transition to Powers High School.

Among the many fun things to do in Flushing, Flushing Karate is at the top of the list for my seven year old. He's just beginning, but the master instructor is wonderful with the kids, and parents can train for free if you like.

Living in Flushing, I see it as an "out of the way community" with no state highways or main thoroughfare's. If you go to Flushing, you're going on purpose. Nevertheless, it is worth the visit. The river runs through it and it has numerous parks and miles of walking/biking paths, along with a quaint downtown business area with several shops and restaurants. Simply put, Flushing is a great place to live!

I live in Flushing and downtown is awesome. With sidewalks, parks, river views running through the city. Parades and Music in the Park all summer are wonderful and we love the winter candle walks.
