The annual Livingston County Home & Garden Show is held in the spring. This year's show was the 51st! It is a center for home improvement ideas and inspiration and is a great community event that connects people to skilled tradesman and people with areas of expertise.

There are about 200 exhibits of products and projects that can help enhance our homes inside and out. There is also a Fine Arts Show, a Shred Day event, an auto show and the popular Taste of Livingston event where participants will offer dessert to barbecue for sampling. New this year was a Neighborhood Marketplace - a shopping opportunity for handmade items. And there are planned activities for kids and lots of prizes and giveaways.

We have enjoyed this event as a family and also as an exhibitor and it is always spectacular!

Island Lake State Park is a beautiful 4000 acre park to enjoy. It is known for the only balloon port in the state park system. In addition to that, people come from all over to train on the mountain bike trails and experience beautiful lakes for kayaking or paddle boarding. Another amenity is the shooting range. Island Lake is known to be one of the safest shooting ranges. Why not come and enjoy a day at Island Lake? Bring a date, the family or just yourself.
  • 1. Make sure you take the Homestead Exemption form to the appropriate Township
immediately so you are eligible for the homestead exemption Michigan offers
(i.e. this saves about 40% on your taxes)

    2. If there is a Home Warranty, it may benefit you to call the company and make sure
they have your correct contact information.

    3. Call the utilities just to make sure they have done the final readings and transferred
    the accounts into your name.

    4. You may want to have the door locks to your home re-keyed. Better safe than sorry.

Another great thing about living in our Livingston County community is having such an amazing medical facility so close to home. We personally have welcomed the proximity. When you need it - you need it. They have a 24-hour ER, a cancer center, a clinic for lab services, PT and rehab, radiology services and so much more. Something to consider when looking to live and work in this community. We are lucky to have such a needed facility in our area
