Downtown Zeeland does something special for Halloween. They invite the princesses and frogs alike to come and stroll along the main street. Businesses provide treat bags and sweet treats from donuts to candy. Police and firefighters are on the scene, bringing some excitement as a wide-eyed child approaches our servicemen and women for a special treat! It feels nostalgic, idyllic, and just right.

Here at Vande Luyster Square Park, you can find a historical monument landmark that is very important to Zeeland. This historic monument is the wishing fountain that was created to celebrate Zeeland's first settlers. There is also a white gazebo and benches around the wishing fountain. Many people like to take pictures at the park; sometimes you can even see wedding parties or formal photos being taken. Be sure to check out this fountain and enjoy a sunny day making a wish for a bright future.

What is your favorite go to food? Many people would say pizza. What is there not to love?! If you are one of those pizza lovers, then I have a treat for you. One of the best places in West Michigan is called Stomboli's! It is a little "hole in the wall" place located at a convenience store. They are a small carry out gourmet pizza service specializing in homemade pizza's, and of course strombolis. They all have pasta, salad and dressings, and oven baked subs. Every time we have had one of their pizzas, subs, or salads, we have not been disappointed. It is so fresh and the customer service is superb. The one time we ordered a salad, the chef made the salad with some of the vegetables he grew from his own garden and it was so delicious! They have even offered to accommodate gluten and dairy allergies with a pasta, as long as you called in 30 minutes before. With fantastic service and even better food, you are sure to leave there with a big smile on your face.

If you are looking for a delicious and cool summer treat before you hit the beach, the Soft Spot is the place! It is tucked in the little town of Borculo. It has a wonderful variety of ice cream and many specials! They also have burgers, corn dogs, and many other foods that make you immediately feel like you are on a vacation to the beach.

The Soft Spot did very well this summer with having outdoor seating and a drive-through, which allowed many to still enjoy their favorite flavors in the midst of a pandemic. Their children's area is such a perfect spot for children to play with toys and pretend to run their own ice cream store (once social distancing is lifted). They even have a small farmer's stand with fresh fruits and vegetables out for anyone to purchase. Often when you drove by, you could see the line of those ready for their favorite treats to the road. So if you are already planning your summer visit to Lake Michigan in Holland, be sure to stop by and see why this place is hopping.

Looking for an awesome place to buy seeds for your vegetable and fruit garden? Look no further than Debruyn's! This family-run business is one of the best. Not only do they offer excellent seeds, but they have soil amendments, grass seed, bird feeders, chicken feed, and even dog food.

Last time we visited, we were able to meet Butternut, "the manager," a sweet, loving, orange cat that they brought out for the kids to pet. What keeps people coming back over and over again are the great prices, excellent products, and free knowledge. Anytime anyone in our family needed help with a vegetable or fruit, we went to Debruyn's to find the fix. We were always given knowledge and the perfect product to fix our issue. So look no further for your edible garden needs! This is the place!
