The 2020 dam failure hit homes and fishing opportunities in the Midland area. So where can a person go with their boat and their best fishing buddy (Jake the Dog)? Last week when the temps hit the seventies we got out to Wiggins Lake in Gladwin - a short 45-minute drive from the city of Midland. The boat launch is set up very nicely for unloading and loading your boat. Just make sure you follow the signs. It is a beautiful lake with fishing times in the morning until 12 p.m. and again from 6:00 p.m. to the morning. The lake is known to produce Bass, Northern Pike, and Panfish. Other lakes to check out are Pratt Lake and Five Lakes.

Barstow Woods Park is commonly known as Barstow Dog Park by the locals. This is a wonderful place to bring your furry friends to run free and safely while you walk the trails. They open at
6:00 a.m. and close at 11:00 p.m. You will find drinking bowls for your thirsty dog throughout the park along with potty bags and nearby trash cans. Jake, our German Shorthair, and Boss, our Springer Spaniel love going in the morning.

My family and I love going to Main St. in the summer! There is always something going on, be it sidewalk sales, parties in the commons, art festivals, or just walking the Tridge. Downtown Midland is an exceptional place to spend time and enjoy family and friends.
